New Google Mobile

This week Google announced a new version of its mobile edition. I noticed this first on old google mobile search and took few screenshots on how it looks like. I liked the concept of mixing web results, images with businesses and news, and the new mobile edition is optimized to show you one or more section according to the available results.

Looking for mobile-results or any results ? the option in the old Mobile Google search to find mobile only results have been dropped and replaced by an icon displayed in front of mobile enabled web pages. I think it's more interesting if Google give you directly what's available in its database, and of course with a priority for mobile content. Normal websites you can always browse with the Google proxy for mobile, if it's not banned at your ISP.

More than text results

Looking for image or text ? This is an option that I don't agree so much because images are always synonyms of bandwidth consuming, especially for mobile. The option here show you only three images in case results are available, which could be acceptable, followed by text results, then business results, and you can see more news or images depending on your choice.

Finally there are many settings available such as language, Search entry, SafeSearch, page formatted for mobile or no, save recent locations ..etc. This will give you the choice to go back to the previous mobile search and choose yourself if Google should show you image, text or mobile results.

Very small application but very neat and very well done for mobile I can say. At least someone is going in the right direction.
